Let’s Go Deleting!
As nice as it is to have these ridiculous amounts of music that we all have, every now and then we must part with some things just to maintain the idea that on some level we are people with discerning tastes. Here’s what I’m deleting today!
- Islands - Return to the Sea - As much as I enjoyed The Unicorns (from whom this band sprung), this album was just tediously bland and the inclusion of the most annoying rapper ever (Bus Driver) on a track that I otherwise liked really pushed me over the edge. Buh-bye!
- Wale - The Mixtape About Nothing - Not sure about the hype on this guy. Maybe I’ll like him when he comes out with a proper. Command + Delete
- Similou - All This Love - I think this was on a year end list from Diplo. Sorry Dippy.
- Fleetwood Mac - Tusk - There’s only room for two Mac’s in my life. Mac Daddy & Daddy Mac
- Scritti Politti - Cupid & Psyche 85 - Not sure where this came from… but it definitely exceeds my tolerance level for bubblegum.
- Air France - I liked the band Studio enough to try to convince myself I liked this. I was wrong.
- Amon Duul II - Tanz der Lemminge - I just don’t do enough drugs to warrant having music like this lying around.
- The Band - Music From The Big Pink - Truth be told, I’ve tried to accept The Band on several occasions, and for whatever reason, we don’t connect. Even the stuff they did with Dylan. The folk-soul thing just misses with me. Oh well.
Unintended side effect: rediscovering old loves.
- Twista - Overnight Celebrity (prod. Kanye West) DL
- Andrea True Connection - More, More, More (A Tom Moulton Mix) DL
- T.I. - Doin’ My Job (prod. Kanye West) DL
- The Strokes - Under Control - I’ve always liked how close this song comes to being really lazy doo-wop. Sparse, simple, but hypnotic. DL
- Scarface - Guess Who’s Back (ft. Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel) (prod. Kanye West) - So obviously I stumbled on my old-school Kanye-produced tracks playslist. It’s amazing how this stuff already sounds classic. This was definitely an era, and while it wasn’t that long ago, it’s definitely clearly in the past. DL
Alright, that’s enough for now.
